(Yes, it is 9/1, and we are posting the Royal Song for 8/31. We like each day to have its song, even if we don’t get to it on time!)
“Calypso” by John Denver is The Royal Song of The Day for 8/31/2011. John Denver wrote it in tribute of ecologist and explorer, Jacques Cousteau. The Duke and Duchess of Peace would put John Denver and Jacques Couseau in the category of royalty for their contributions to “life and the living”…
The Duke and Duchess thought of this song, because yesterday, they took a whale and dolphin watching cruise in the Atlantic Ocean.
Someday, we will come back and write more about the cruise, and about why we love the song, Calypso.
For now, here is an excerpt of the lyrics:
To work in the service of life and the living
In search of the answers to questions unknown
To be part of the movement and part of the growing
Part of beginning to understand…Aye, Calypso, the places you’ve been to
The things that you’ve shown us
The stories you tell..
